NextBART

[NOTE 6/4/06: this program doesn't work anymore. BART changed their website, and that broke NextBART. It's still available for download, in case anyone is interested.]

NextBART is a cellphone application that lets you check BART schedules from your phone. It’s simple and free.

What do I need to run it?

Short answer: A cellphone that runs Java programs and can connect to the Internet.

Long answer: Most cellphones can run applications. However, different phones run on different software platforms, and an application written for one platform won’t run on another. NextBART is written for the J2ME platform, which is a version of Java for cellphones.

How do I get it?

The exact procedure depends on your phone, so if you can’t figure it out, consult your phone’s instructions. The gist, though, is that you point your phone to the following address:

Note: that address is case-sensitive.

The latest version is .9. NextBART is licensed under the GPL, which means that you can freely distribute it and modify it as you please, though I would appreciate credit.

I’m a geek and would like the source code

NextBART has awoken feelings in me that I never knew I had
